Barcelona Fashion Week 2009

This past week was also fashion week in Barcelona, a three day long celebration of the Catalan city's independent designers and an opportunity to encourage Barcelona's growth as a future major fashion capital (the city is now also home to well known Berlin-transplant Bread + Butter, a huge showcase for urban labels). Barcelona Fashion Week is only two years old, but the newbie's got a very strong future. The three days began with an expo of the work of Miriam Ocariz, a designer from Bilboa who got her start with adorable screenprinted tees, and ended with a finale by awesome gothy twosome Zazo & Brull, influenced by the work of Tim Burton and known for calling their collections names like "Diary of a Madman." Sweet.
