BERLIN FASHION WEEK, top designers and labels from
Germany and abroad will present their latest collections for the Spring/Summer
2009 season. The program of over 120 events is geared primarily
towards national and international buyers, designers, and media representatives.
Berlin will host exclusive fashion shows and present a packed trade-fair program
and several related events, exhibitions, and fashion awards. The Berlin
Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women s Issues and the business
development agency Berlin Partner GmbH present BERLIN FASHION WEEK
together with the event organizers of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, the
PREMIUM and STARK fashion fairs, and projektGALERIE.
BERLIN FASHION WEEK s new website, which features a brand new design and
comprehensive information in German and English, will receive its official
launch today. At www.fashion-week-berlin.com, visitors have access to
facts, figures, and background information on all related events. Users also
have the opportunity to import highlights automatically to their personal
electronic calendar. Further evidence that fashion has overtaken Berlin can be
found on the over 1000 placards and City Light posters advertising
BERLIN FASHION WEEK all over the city.
The first Showroom-Meile (Showroom Mile) will experience its premiere in the
fashionable district of Berlin-Mitte. This year s launch will allow everyone
from design professionals to fashion enthusiasts to experience BERLIN
FASHION WEEK and Berlin design first hand. Companies will host designers
and their collections; art galleries will enter into innovative and
interdisciplinary collaborations; fashion will engage with traditional Berlin
royal porcelain; and Berlin fashion schools will initiate exciting projects and
show off the work of their best students.
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will once again take place on Bebelplatz
in Berlin-Mitte. Among the designers and labels presenting their collections
here are JOOP! Jeans, HUGO, Michalsky, Sisi Wasabi, Vivienne Westwood with
Anglomania, pureBERLIN, Kilian Kerner, and Scherer Gonzalez. The Karstadt New
Generation Award will also give four outstanding young designers the opportunity
to present their collections to
an international audience.
The PREMIUM fair will feature roughly 850 international women s and men s
collections, accessories, shoes, perfumes, cosmetics, books, CDs, and home
accessories. Premium will also organize a symposium and focus on current themes
such as green living.
projektGALERIE will present the collections of international fashion
designers from high fashion to avant-garde together with photographic works and
contemporary art at select galleries.
In the former Humboldt power station, STARK will present cutting-edge
fashion divided into three sections: WATT, VOLT, and AMPERE. The
Klauser fashion agency will feature its labels in addition to both established
and young designers.
