Join the fashion extravaganza this July in Hong Kong where over 800 fashion and fashion accessories manufactures are awaiting fashion buyers and peers from around the world. Fashion parades are the quintessence of the fair. Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the organiser, has arranged seven fashion parades to greet the international buyers during the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/ Summer. The "Hong Kong New Fashion Collection Award 2005-Prize Presentation" will raise the curtain for the fair. Divided into two categories, namely "Casual & Jeans-wear" and "Contemporary Day-wear", the top models in town will parade the ten collections in the"Hong Kong New Fashion Collection Award 2007 - Prize Presentation". Mr Andrew Leung, the chief judge, and sponsors will present prizes to the winners. With an aim to raise the profile of the new generation of designers, the Young Designers (YD) Alumni Club members will present "YD Alumni Club Fashion Parade - Denim Evolution". The theme "Denim Evolution" is to reflect the designers' youthful spirit and boundless energy, with models parading in an avant-garde construction site-inspired runway. Riding on the recent Korean enthusiasm, "Korean Young Designer's Fashion Show" and "Supreme Corea Artist Fashion Show I & II" are parades featuring Korean fashion designers. The shows will definitely allow the buyers to explore the booming Korean fashion trend and develop business opportunities. In the "International Fashion Designers' Show", four Hong Kong designers - Acquavivarreonpocho, Fannie Lau, Ida Trieu, Wilson Lee, and three Indonesian designers - Ali Charisma, Arantxa Adi and Sandryant, will show their creativity and talent to the buyers. There will also be parades on individual designers' collections like Ika and Cecilia Yau with the theme title being "Sahara Crossing by Ika Cecilia Yau Spring/ Summer Collection 06". Running in between the fashion shows are a number of mini parades showing items from the exhibitors. The Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer always strives to better itself. This year, the fair will break its record by presenting over 800 exhibitors with exhibits zones thoughtfully designed. As usual, the "Garment & Accessories Mart" presents all basic fashion items while the "Body & Intimate Wear Zone" showcases a wide spectrum of lingerie, nightwear, and pyjamas. The "Bridal & Evening Wear Section" is a perfect platform for scooping elaborate wear for spectacular occasions. The "Fashion Gallery" is where the stylish intelligent fashion designers gather under one roof to show off collections items including their own brands as well as exclusive lines for others. On top of the fashion parades and exhibition, the organiser has arranged a series of seminars about diverse fashion industry issues, aiming to update the industry players with about the future trends and industry related news. Last year, a total of 15,093 buyers from worldwide witnessed the success of the event, which was a 17.4 per cent increase compared to the 2003's figure. With proven records, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/ Summer 2009 is destined to be a popular global event.
